Puma immediately dropped Sunny as her ass was slapped, she'd almost bare her fangs until she saw who it was that had slapped her. She'd just stand, mouth agape as she put together what he said. She'd close her jaw, and offer a forced smile, not willing to ruin the look of accomplishment he wore upon his face.
She'd groan once he was inside, looking down to her husband who practically convulsed with laughter. What was it with these boys? First that time with Morsus kissing her now Vespyr calling her sugartits.
"Ah'm gonna agree with Ahanna on this one. That's on you. Maybe you should be tha' one ta' explain what is an' isn't appropriate with certain people."
She'd smirk, taking her foot then and not so much kicking Sunny, but more to push him over.
----------
Yana's ears flattened against her head as Charion strode over with Caliban upon her heels to accost DarkRift. She'd watch the tirade as Caliban calmed her daughter and after a little while, her ears drooped, saddened by what she saw and heard. They all missed Rift and were going through great lengths to find him. Had she already sacrificed too much of herself in doing so. She supposed that wasn't her decision to make, that was for her 'other'. She was still only a fragmented piece of one soul.
She'd look back to DarkRift and frowned in a bit of frustration. There were things she simply could not do when not whole. Gleaning his memories were one. Where was Lilith and Seraphina when she needed them. If there was anything she was going to learn, he would have to tell her.
"Come then. Walk with me if ye will. I understand why ye cannae stay. But I beg ye, tell me what ye know of ye past self. Where are ye? How does Seraphina save ye? What do ye mean by, ye coulna' save anyone?"

Sunny would wipe a tear from his eye, standing slowly and brushing himself off. Putting an arm around Puma's shoulders, he fought to compose himself. If anyone had told him 20 years ago that he'd have enjoyed having children, he'd likely have ripped out their tongue and scoffed at them. Now, the more he got to know them, he simply enjoyed the people they were becoming. Mia had always been a favorite of his - it was said a parent shouldn't have favorites, but they all mostly did anyway. He didn't love his other children any less, he simply resonated most strongly with her. Morsus had recently been fun to get to know as well - the wrestling and fighting was a stark contrast to the sass and slyness of his daughter. Vespyr was simply comedic to him. Such magical prowess but didn't have a clue how to be 'normal' in his own way. He wondered what Zella was going to be like, should they be afforded to get to know her. But that thought stuck with him for a moment - as if he was trying to remember something he'd forgotten, yet couldn't think what it was because it was, indeed, forgotten. Hearing Charion, however, he called over his shoulder all the way down to where they were.
"You're not going to tell me shit, Cousin! This is Puma's house - set your terms with her! And anyone that goes inside, weapons in the umbrella stand at the door - house rules!"
He moved with Puma to catch up with Vespyr, but whispered to her cautiously.
"Wasn't Zella here? I have this strange feeling she was, but I can't for the life of me think where she's gone. I feel like she and Niwyn should be here. Hm...maybe I'm just getting old."
Ahanna would turn on one heel and walk down towards DarkRift, Caliban and Illyana. Stretching her back with her hands on her hips, she sighed.
"What's the plan, Rifty? We staying or going? Don't we have to save the world or something? If not, I've got places to be."
Despite her indifferent tone, her eyes narrowed. She felt a shift in her conciousness - Illereas was moved. She would have to refocus to find his exact location, but she could feel the pull of the ring still on his middle finger. She absentmindedly spun the ring on her left thumb almost instinctively. Had it not been for Nihilano's oathbinding, she would have acted already. But there was time yet. Solavi had forgotten her, but she had not forgotten it. Soon. Very soon.

Caliban and Charion eventually made their way back to the estate.
Charion shrugged in reaction to Sunny's shout. She didn't care who owned the house, she just didn't want to be in the same vicinity of the pale imitation of her father. "Whatever you say, cousin. But don't blame me if he winds up scattered in small pieces." Caliban shushed her.
Darkrift and Illyana took a slower pace behind the duo, as it seemed the doppelganger was talking a lot as she attentively listened.
As they walked into the courtyard to join the others, Caliban was trying to remember. The faces of these people were somewhat familiar, she had seen some of them in the family archives on Meridian.
".... hm. Sunfire, son of my great grandfather Illearas... ... and you are Tanaphur." she grinned awkwardly. "You are technically my grandparents, from another dimension? I'm Caliban. I am from Meridian, and I'm Charion and Zoe's biological daughter, artificially produced... but I was adopted by Mia and Deux... if you can .. fathom it. ... I think we should take our time with this because I'm still sort of getting used to observing the path not taken..."
She made sure Charion was comfortable and got a good look around. Ahanna she had already knew, but this strange man (Vespyr) who seemed infatuated with the young blonde fae creeped her out a little. Malcolm she recognized immediately, but it was strange to her because he had died in Meridian. She regretted not reconciling before he was killed. They were barely on speaking terms once he had learned of her allegiance to Mia and the CdG, even if it had been a loose definition of the term "allegiance".
"Mal I know pretty well... and... oh." she couldn't really process Yana. "Is this just a hub for interdimensional travelers? Is there another Caliban here? That would be kinda neat!"
Sharur floated in the air above them, keeping out of reach. The staff was cautiously watching over Charion while maintaining a decent distance away.

Darkrift sighed as he walked with Illyana. It would be a lot to explain, as Charion and Caliban walked ahead.
"So...I... was lost for a long time. Vaya Nightshade tried to have me assassinated by mercenaries, and they believed that they had succeeded! I was one of the few individuals around that could have been a threat to her. She genuinely feared me! Instead of fighting me fair and square she sent professionals. They killed my homunculus who was in the Castle Hub to observe, by mistake. I had made so many counter measures to defend myself that I became very reclusive in those days. In time, I had to leave my lab to stretch my legs, so I came here in the 1920's to search for lost civilizations. I found a massive pyramid on my third excursion into the Sahara Desert. Boy, I really wish I hadn't."
~~~
"The funny thing was, I couldn't tell you where the pyramid is because it moved between dimensions. I came across it alone by accident. Hell of a find. The men in my employ who did not flee died in the desert, so I just couldn't let them die in vain. It was a insidious trap, and I fell for it hard, all in the name of discovery and conquest."
~~~
"So I just existed inside the thing, trapped like a rat. A few millennia passed and I might as well have been dead, at least I wished I was... until Seraphina found me. I have no idea how she did it. She broke the spell that held me and was bound up in my place. Before I could stop her from that foolishness the pyramid shifted into another realm. I .. .. ... couldn't keep up with it."
~~~
"Somebody finally figured out how to kill me, but I never figured out who it was, so of course it would involve a paradox. At least I think that's what happened... Everything was destroyed and I was sheared in half as I escaped through a portal. I woke up in Malfeas, and Duex... or Tres I think you call him now... suspended me for thirty three years. The actions of Charion, Sunny, and Puma got me out of there, but I don't think they were all on the same page."
~~~
"Remember that at the same time, the repaired homunculus fufilled its purpose by restoring me to what you see now. I am a combination of the Duex Golem, the remaining Homunculus circuitry, and the man you once knew as Rift McCarrion. I exist by paradox. Now... I'm gathering powerful beings to help me undo what has been done. I know. It's not lost on me that I'm asking to be destroyed in the process, but ... I just.... shouldn't exist. My memories are tainted and I am just not ... him."
~~~
"If I do nothing, I will succumb to the paradox. I feel it creep into my essence, but just before it takes me over, I fight it off. But... I'll find a way to help Sera and the man you know as Rift McCarrion before it consumes me with the rest of existence."
~~~
"So there you have it." They had arrived at the property line of the Shadowstar estate.

Puma's eyes narrowed in thought as Sunfire whispered in her ear. Wasn't Zella there not long ago? Perhaps she was just so used to Mia coming and going as she pleased it didn't strike her as odd when Zella did. Only, she was certain Zella would've felt obligated to offer a formal goodbye. It seemed in her nature to do so.
"Maybe ah'm gettin' old too Shug but... didn't... didn't she go shopping... or something... with Niwyn?"
That couldn't be right. Or could it? She could only imagine what Niwyn's idea of shopping would be, unless it was just a white lie to steal Zella away. She'd give her husband a curious look.
"Not ta' be 'that parent' but ah could track her." She'd offer. The Pride bond had been established. With a little help, it was how she found Zella in Faerun. It was how she found Morsus when he was raised in Ched Nasad. It was tempting. But she didn't want to abuse the link.
Puma's attention would be pulled away however as Caliban approached. Those blue, cat-like eyes narrowing as the girl used her true name.
"Ah prefer ta' be called Puma. If ya don't mind." She'd offer Caliban a tight smile. Zoe. That was a name she hadn't heard in what felt like eons. She wondered idly what that childe was up to. Clearly she had been busy in an alternate dimension. She'd sigh, relaxing a bit more as she looked over to Illyana as Malcolm carried her out the front door to cool off. She'd chuckle lightly at Caliban's question.
"No. Not a hub. Though it seems m'house is turnin' inta one. Illyana is goin' through some things right now. Best ah can explain, she went an' made a bunch a'copies of herself. We're all workin' ta help put 'er back t'gether again."
She'd glance back over to Caliban with a bit of a critical eye, as if taking her in. The sight of her, the smell of her... it would be a look the tall girl would no doubt be used to if she had ever been in the presence of Tanaphur of Meridian. Though this version would be doing so more for her own curiosity and information. Tana would be sizing you up either as a snack or to calculate how best to use you in her quest of domination.
"Ah'm curious. Tell me of your world. Ah can't picture our Mia bein' married much less adopting someone."
----------
Yana stopped as DarkRift did, at the edge of the Shadowstar estate. She'd look inside to those gathered and just nod, a small smile touching her lips.
"So Seraphina found ye. I always knew the girl had potential, but tae end up trapped herself. Tis a shame." She'd recall a comment her Granddaughter had made earlier, when she asked if the women of their bloodline was cursed. Yana had waved her thoughts away as silly, especially when Nathan had returned only a few hours later. But in essence was that future not the same thing? With that knowledge perhaps she could prevent it and still save Rift.
"Ye nae the only one not as they once were. She'd look up at the man who once was but was no longer, Illyana's husband.
"I am but a fracture of Illyana. Split from the whole, I've been living in Nidavellir for several years now. Looking for ye. I was found and asked tae return. Seems my other, the original, had continued tae split herself. Lilith, Charion, Sunny.... They all are trying tae find them all, so we can be whole again." She'd chuckle lightly. "I was nae meant tae be permanent. So I understand a little how ye feel."

Sunny couldn't help the incredulous look that split his features. Puma spoke the truth - their minds told them that the girls had gone shopping. Neither of them were green adventurers in the field, however - it didn't track, no matter how real it seemed. Not wanting to interrupt the conversation with Caliban, he turned to go see what Vespyr was up to. As he walked away, he focused on his body chemistry, speeding up his heart rate, making his pupils dilate and his sweat glands to secrete. It was if he was lying under pressure. He knew the message would reach his wife's nose - they had been bonded so long that even the most subtle hints could be conveyed as such. Licking his dry lips, he thought about how reality would have gone down. Niwyn would have positively begged Puma to go shopping - wanting to dress her up in all sorts of wild colors. Zella would have been reserved and uncomfortable at the notion, but wanting to be polite said farewell to each person here in turn. There was no pressing matter to whisk themselves away from, especially when Niwyn could just drink and abuse Vespyr's lack of social understanding. Something was off, but whatever had masked the reality had been powerful enough to affect even the powerful collections of beings on the beach seamlessly. It was only through lack of understanding of the reality of who Niwyn and Zella were that caused the illusion to bleed at the seams of perception. It was an elegant lie, but a lie regardless.
As he entered the house he was greeted by a room full of naked young Illyanas. One was lounging on the couch with a bunch of grapes, and another with a pitcher of wine pouring it into the chalice held by another. Two more giggled and played on a fur rug by the fire. Amidst it all stood a beaming Vespyr. Sunny's eye twitched as rage welled up within him, his fists clenching and teeth gritting. Vespyr's smile slowly faded into one of fear, confusion and sadness. Sunny slowly turned his head, cracking his neck. His words came out coolly and evenly, through pinched lips.
"No, Vespyr. This is inappropriate on so, so many levels. Dispell your illusions this instant."
There was a slight puff and the wine and grapes fell to the floor. There was nothing but Vespyr in the kitchen. If he knew how to cry, tears would certainly be welling up in his eyes as frustration and disappointment cascaded over him. Entirely unused to emotion of any sort, it was clear he was confused and overwhelmed. Sunny would exhale, his body relaxing as he grabbed a rag and cleaned up the wine. Moving over to Vespyr, he put an arm around the young man's shoulders and slowly moved them towards the study.
"Come now, son. Let me explain over a game of chess. Perhaps you can beat your old man, hm?"
Vespyr would perk up immediately and proceed to beat him in 5 moves.

Charion was scowling. She didn't like this situation one bit, but she had to show a more pleasant demeanor to appease her daughter, but Darkrift had to stop spreading lies. Caliban's arrival here felt... right. She had already deducted that this was no shapeshifter or magic user trying to con the family... her existence in a different dimension was at least plausible. The true issue was trying to determine what caused the alternate timeline to begin with.
The thought she had next sickened her. Darkrift was the only one she knew of who had experienced a time and dimensional paradox, and the McCarrion/Shadowstar family would require him to be alive, even if he spoke nothing but lies. Charion tried to fathom what she would do if he tried to stay. She instinctively reached out with her left arm, and Sharur flew to her without question. She would stand her ground and question him.
"Tell us the truth, imposter." She didn't mince her words as she pointed the warclub at Darkrift. "Did ye fracture the timeline yeself? Everything seems tae be a bit too convenient for ye to be gallivanting around. Why are ye really collecting powerful beings from other realms?"
Darkrift was taken aback. He wasn't perfect, and perhaps not all of his motives were clean cut, but he was a victim of circumstance. Unlike his predecessor, he had to make some very hard decisions to get the right results. "It wasn't me, Char. I suspected a version of Nathan had traveled into the past to change ... something? The problem was, he was being used. I don't know what it was all for, but I caught on to what he was doing before my home dimension collapsed. I barely escaped, I lost everyone I loved, and I'd do anything... even evil, heinous things... to make sure that never, ever happens again. I don't care if it is for another version of me even. I gotta try. There is a being... or a force of nature, if you will... that is attempting to create the end of existence via paradox, and your actual father is likely the only one who can repair the breach between dimensions."
She lifted the club and squinted. "I'll let ye pass for now, but I intend tae retrieve father's things and see ye leave our realm. I promise I'll have ye destroyed myself if ye don't comply with my wishes."
Darkrift glanced at Illyana, not really understanding this hostility. "Sure. I'll turn all the tech over once the paradox leading to the end of everything has been repaired. Geeze. I don't think yer dad will mind if I leave him something to come back to." he placed a hand on the back of his neck, shaking his head.
"Fine. As ye say. If ye break ye word, I'll honor mine." Charion turned to Caliban. "Caliban, stay the night, at least. But... watch Darkrift if ye have tae leave. I donnae trust anything he says. I want ye tae come back tae me in good health so I can at least be the parent ye deserved."

Post by Vidar on Oct 18, 2022 9:52:57 GMT -5
Vidar felt as if he had entered Valhalla. He had just beaten an old game called Halo, and was now looking into a virtual dating game. This had become uninteresting, so he closed that to try another application... he continued browsing with Victoria's help until he learned of a late stage sandbox game that allowed him to create companions and settings.
He was back on Asgard, stumbling to his tiny house at the edge of a vast forest. A female giant approached him from the deep wood. She wore a simple cloak and had her hair in pigtails. She was not a full-sized giant, but she could look down upon Vidar once she got close enough. He had recognized her immediately, it truly was Solveig. Her cloak dropped, revealing a muscular, but curvy frame. "Husband. Oh...how I have missed thee." She clenched her fists and squared up to him.
Vidar's eyes widened and his mouth curved into a smirk. His tore his armor off and then tackled her. They would fight first, then make love. Whoever won the fight got to decide what the other activity entailed. Vidar rarely won, but he always would try his best.
~Meanwhile~
Hemodr hailed Victoria.
"Is Lord Vidar finished with these idle playthings? Wherefore is thy champion, so we may go forth and save the realm of man and immortal alike?"
Victoria appeared as a hologramin the cargo bay, visibly blushing. "Um... let's just say Vidar is pretty busy right now. You are going to need to be a bit more patient, because he's going to be a while. I suppose we could land the ship because it seems things have calmed down a bit below, but we should probably remain on the ship so nobody gets nervous."
Victoria managed to auto steer a landing upon a flat landing area near the mansion after the cloaking shimmered away. She corrected subroutines with the house defenses to predesignate the ship as non-hostile. The World's Edge careened around and touched down vertically, the thrusters and turbines of the great ship slowed as it landed. There, it would remain locked down until Darkrift and the others were prepared to leave.

"Puma, huh?" Caliban took a few steps forward to address the matriarch of the Shadowstar Estate. "I guess that's better than 'meemaw'."
Caliban stretched and yawned with a toothy smile. "I'm joshin' ya. My story is pretty long, so we might as well get comfy. I'll try to give you the quick and dirty version, though."
She took in a deep breath and began to explain.
"Meridian. Now... for me it's a decent enough home, the place of my birth. But to everyone who visits, it's a dystopian shithole. Love it or hate it, I've spent my entire life there in relative comfort. It's a lot different from this place... mainly the air quality and water cleanliness. Anyway. I was born in a laboratory test tube. I don't know the ends and outs... but I do know I'm half vampire, and half fae. I was created with the strengths of both and the weaknesses of neither... I don't even drink blood. Charion was one of my parents and Zoe was my mother... after she was turned. Not that it matters. They both abandoned me when I was young, and I was adopted shortly afterwards."
"My step-parents - Deux McCarrion and Mia Phurman, run Meridian by proxy through a military organization and a tech giant. The CdG had evolved from a simple merc business to a warlord's task force, and McCarrion labs became a technology super conglomerate that had reach across the entire planet. They found each other and joined forces... but I was told they married because they actually loved one another. I dunno. I think they saw something in one another after everyone else was pushed away. Regardless, they 'rescued' me from Charion's haven, and even though other labeled me as an abomination, they gave me a home and trained me to kill through brutal training exercises. Deux and Mia both saw my potential, and placed a lot of trust in my skill. That was all fine and good until the day I was ordered to hunt and kill my biological mother. Durning my research, I learned the truth on what Deux did with the rest of the family, and I left them both to their own devices."
Caliban looked into the sky as the World's Edge decloaked and landed several hundred yards behind the mansion.
"A lot of time passed, and I eventually reconciled with Mia. She claimed she had nothing to do with wiping out the Rift and Illyana of my realm. I eventually learned the fates of Charion and Lilith, and kept moving."
Caliban sneered good naturedly.
"When I met up with Gramps... I mean... Darkrift, it really was a no-brainer that was the path forward, for good or ill." She placed both hands on her hips and smirked. "Either a good death or a way to make up for my terrible deeds, I suppose. I figured-"
Charion walked up suddenly and interrupted her story. "Caliban, stay the night, at least. But... watch Darkrift if ye have tae leave. I donnae trust anything he says. I want ye tae come back tae me in good health so I can at least be the parent ye deserved."
She sighed. "Okay okay... alright, mom. Just one night then."

The sharp glance Puma gave to Caliban at being called Meemaw would be enough to send chills down anyone's spine. No doubt reminiscent of the Tanaphurr she knew. Her expression cooling down shortly after as Caliban began her story. She'd remained silent as she listened, musing on the fact this 'Mia Phurman' potentially fell in love for real and still had time to run a military organization. Meanwhile here she hoped this Mia wouldn't accidentally take over or implode the world. Such could be a potential future, though if she were to believe this DarkRift was a future version of Rift McCarrion, that could be a far time off yet.
Charion butted in and Puma would take the opportunity to just nod at Caliban and wander back over to the kitchen for a glass of wine.
----------
Illyana had also vaguely been listening to Caliban's story. Something she had mentioned caught her attention and long ears would perk up beneath long blonde hair. She hesitated for a moment to step away from DarkRift's side, but step away she would, walking up to Caliban and Charion.
"Did ye say, Deux killed the Rift and Illyana of ye realm?" Slender fingers reached up to touch her lips in thought, her gaze growing distant as she pondered that phenomenon.
"How... sad." She'd say, as if the comment required a response though her voice remained lost in thought.

Darkrift shook his head. He figured it would just be wiser to have a smoke. There was no way he could sway into Charion's good graces. He couldn't win. Regardless of what had happened at Malfeas, the distrust would remain until he had done something to prove himself.
"There's gonna be a day I'm not around, missy. What you do until then is your business. Caliban is in good hands, daughter."
Charion glared at him, saying nothing. Caliban shirked away. "Look at the time! Grampa, I'm gonna turn in a little early. Maybe I'll get up early to calibrate the navigation before we head out... You two should.... um... work things out, ok?"
Charion closed her eyes, her scowl had never left. "Nae likely."
Darkrift shrugged, in mocking defeat. "Yep, I'm sure it'll go great! Get some rest, kiddo."
Sharur glowed menacingly. Darkrift stretched, and stopped as he watched Illyana's expression.
"Charion... yer upsettin' yer mother. Let's just take a walk." The earth rumbled gently, far below.

"I think I'll be heading tae bed. We have nae a thing tae discuss." Charion frowned, as Darkrift had blatantly ignored her questions. She wouldn't trust being around him alone. "Caliban, wait up!"
He shook his head and rejoined Yana,Sunny, Puma, Vesper, and finally addressed Ahanna. "This is the plan. We're staying put one night to strategize with the smartest people I can remember. We need help with the execution." He glanced at Charion who had begun to chase after Caliban. He pointed her out to Ahanna, with an exasperated expression. "Kids, amiright? That exchange was really, really awkward, but I figure she'll come around if give her some space."
Darkrift blinked, coming to a realization. "We gotta move on." He glanced around for a moment, unable to find the right words. He coughed. "Hey, hey... I'll supply the ice if somebody could bring me some good whiskey. We got a lot to figure out."
~~~
Night was falling in the South Seas, and as the tide rolled in, the skies became darker and more menacing as a storm began to form over the Atlantic. Charion sat on her bed, having sent her protector, a sentient staff/warclub by the name of Sharur, on a special assignment. She had taken a bath, and was lost in thought, listening to the thunder shake the mansion. The same small quakes had been felt earlier that afternoon when she and Darkrift had argued. Lightning flashed three times, and there was a lengthy crashing of thunder. She found that odd, but it sparked a memory of her childhood. Caliban entered from the other room. Charion began speaking to her.
"It be magick. The olde kind of my mother, Goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann. 'Tis one of the basic spells, learned by children during their first year of casting. The spell's only caveat? Once it is learned, it can be cast by accident, triggered by extreme displays of the emotional spectrum. Pity, though. Though I could nae perform even such a simple spell, I could only sense it."
Caliban brought in a good sized case, setting it down on the end of Charion's bed. "Hm. It's better than the toxic rain over in Meridian. I was worried this house was gonna melt without acidproof bunkering!" she grinned.
Charion stared at the large case for a moment, distracted. "What do ye have there?"
Caliban hesitated. "It's a gift from Gramps. He put a lot of time into a secret project in the last few months when we weren't fixing up my bike. Thing is, he told me it was for you, even though I don't know what it is." she smiled softly. "Before you decide to send it into the abyss or trash disposal, you should already know that when he works on something for any lengthy amount of time, you know its gotta be something pretty special." She paused. "The man is brilliant regardless of your feeling towards him is."
Caliban smirked. "I have to admit, I'm pretty curious. He was going to ask you to join the crew, and he intended to give this to you as a welcome gift, but I figured that'd be a hard no, based on your reception. We should be getting to know one another, but there's actually time for that later. I wasn't sure if it was even a good idea to snag whatever this thing is off the ship. Maybe I was thinking that it could be a peace offering?" she sighed. "You need to give him a chance. The old man wants to help the Rift of this dimension, even if that ends up being the end of him."
Charion listened, and remained silent. Caliban could be right, but there was no way she would fully trust Darkrift. She really didn't want to talk about it at the moment.
Caliban stretched her huge frame. "Okay then. I'll leave it here for now. But call me in here if you decide you want to open it. I'm gonna go take a snooze on the couch in the next room."
~~~
Charion did not sleep ordinarily. This night would be no different, except for the fact she was staring at an ordinary, unlocked case for hours while thinking of all sorts of scenarios.

~Hours later~
Caliban awoke. She didn't need a lot of sleep, and most of the time she chose to do it to clear her head. It had been an eventful week. The rain fell on the terracotta roof of the bedroom as she stood up and stretched. She wore a borrowed set of pajamas she had found in a dresser, and they looked comfy despite being a couple of sizes too small. She assumed they may have belonged to Puma or this realm's version of Mia. It didn't really matter all that much
She yawned and walked back to Charion's room. The case had been opened, and Charion was nowhere to be found.
"Aw, dammit. Where did she get to?"
She flipped on the light. The case seemed to be filled with a packing foam, made for carefully storing weapons or hazardous material. Caliban didn't have a clue where to start looking. The house was pretty quiet except for the rain and occasional thunderclap.
"Hmm."
But there was a clinking sound coming from the other wing. Someone was in the gymnasium, working out.
She quietly made her way towards the sounds.
Charion was benching all of the weights in the room. She now had a new, fully functional right arm. Caliban stayed quiet, knowing better than to disrupt this. She smirked to herself, knowing that a sparring match would be obligatory, for a true test.

Vidar cozied up to Solveig in the hot springs. It had been an exhilarating experience, but not exactly how he had remembered. The Sandbox AI used actual memories of its user to fabricate "scenes" or experiences. The synapses of his mind fired what registered as pain and pleasure, but there was a limit to each, and that had disappointed him a little.
Despite all of that, his mind had settled down for once. He wasn't concerned with the collapse of Asgard or the other Realms, at least for now. It would be known that his brother Thor would be the one who would get the credit, even if Vidar managed to be the savior of the Universe. Perhaps the right move was to do nothing and allow the ones with capes to do their thing.
He would not be so lucky.
Hemodr's tinny voice could be heard in Vidar's chamber. Almost half of a day had passed. "Sire? Art thou sated? Hast thou finished thine idle pleasures?"
Vidar's expression was one of annoyance, while having his eyes still closed, he did not stir.
"Sire?"
The flaming sword known as Sutre struck Hemodr's face screen hilt first. This was the "gentle" warning.
"That doth tresspass upon mine person? Begone, weapon! Sire? Please wake up!"
The sword floated to the side, allowing the dutiful servant to approach. Hemodr's form squeezed through the ship's hull, taking up the majority of the hall outside. He was deft enough to angle his mech body through the walkway, and as his interface flashed in recognition, Vidar rose. The god of fire would need magic bean juice.
