The wind had kicked up, and Balty's long fur blew as his hood filled with air. He would hold fast to the top of the Everpines naturally. He would smell the air coming from the west and get much more information.
Dantooine was home to a very public Empire base and a very secret rebel base just a few clicks away from a village called Dantoo Town, which was a haven for smugglers and bounty hunters. Balty could also pick up the scent of... a Hutt! The smell was something between dirt and raw sewage... something that would burn into his brain.
"Nasty.... Erp..." Balthaxar quickly emptied his stomach, with no time to warn anyone below. He had at least kept it quiet.
"Whoops."
Moments passed as the wind gently rocked the cat man back and forth in the highest tree.
Balty's stomach would growl as he swang in the branches of the treetop. He would need food soon. Fortunately, Dantooine was a planet of lakes and rivers, and at least several species of edible marine life. If he had gathered enough intel, he probably would be allowed to hunt, which is something he coveted to do in his current form.
To the North, Balty had gathered enough visual and scent clues to deduct the village is a place where various species gathered together in a secret location where ships take off in the darkness. The town seemed fairly neutral and dormant during the daylight hours. He could also smell the faint smell of charred cooking, strange meats and spices, and campfires. The locals had absorbed the rebellious base into their township, but there was a great deal of secrecy revolving around the merchant designated markings on their ships. There was no way those serial numbers were real.
To the West, he had found a militaristic compound disguised as a Sap Farm. The enormous fluid silos actually contained anti-air weaponry in case of an attack, he could smell the hydraulic fluid from an unattended leak. There were pithy smells of spent blaster cartridges and the ever present body odor of sweaty solders in very uncomfortable armored uniforms. It had to be the humidity. There were bounty hunters and droids there too, with one particularly foul smelling Hutt.
The Greymelkin smirked, as if he had come to a realization.
It was unclear if the two bases knew of each other's existence, as there were plenty of things like swampland and lakes between them. Based on the space traffic he had observed in the span of four hours, the ships travelled in different directions, depending on which base they left. Perhaps they were hiding from one another? It would be anyone's guess.
Balty would make his way back to camp to share his findings. He'd assume Lilith would have an idea on which facility to visit or raid based on his intel.
