Nissa sat up a bit more straight, unwrapping her arms from around Saoirse to give the girl room to flail about in excitement at the potential of helping her Great Grandfather with the engine. Only to have her turn around suddenly and call Ahanna a bitch. Nissa would give Saoirse a wide grin of approval, her grin muting only a bit as Nathan came by to rap the girl gently atop the head with his cane. She’d just give Saoirse a wink before turning her attention back to Nathan as he gave his update.
She’d start to respond but her Grandfather would start speaking. Nissa would give a knowing smile, glancing over to Rift as he answered a question meant for Nathan, but she wasn’t going to correct him. Especially when his thoughts turned more inward.
”You know you’d have to take both Aisling and Saoirse as apprentices, Rift. Your changes of success… and mitigating damage… would be a lot higher.”
Not that he didn’t know that. And of course he wouldn’t mean to leave out the more mechanically inclined Great Granddaughter. She just wanted to make sure they both understood the potential opportunity.
And about that time, Z’ress would appear, flying through the sky in his mechanized suit like some kind of gator. Things were getting crowded here and Nissa would frown at that. Big things seemed to happen when the families started to gather. She remembered the first time she met Z’ress. He was just a kid… for a Drow anyway. The party at the Shadowstar estate in Africa. She had come to deliver news to her Mother. Words were said to her half-sister that she never thought Sera would take to heart. Something about the women of their family being cursed. Something she regretted.
”Come join the party Z’ress. Long time no see.”
She’d make sure she was no longer holding on to Saoirse. She didn’t want the girl taking her arms with her as she no doubt teleported away to greet him.
”So Nathan. Still not concerned about the ceasing to exist part. If that’s a potential. It wouldn’t be just you, you know.”

Aisling would stir as Z'ress came inbound. Patting Rift's knee affectionately as she slipped from his lap, she'd wave at Z'ress' face without looking up at him, her fingers tracing along the metal feeling the vibrational frequency of the internal quantum engines to ensure they were not in flux, moving around to the tail of the suit. Kneeling down at the small globe just above where the tail connected to the suit, she'd wiggle her fingers silently at the wee one strapped in. Stepping up on the suit, she'd flip open the side panel of the main thrusters, snapping her fingers once. Saoirse would roll her eyes, blink away from Nissa, pop back to Aisling, dropping a small sonic screwdriver in her palm, then pop back to Nissa, this time facing her with her tiny legs encircling her waist and her hands resting on her elbows with a wide grin. Aisling would whisper gently from the back of the suit.
"Auntie Niwyn improved the charge capacity and fuel efficiency, and Auntie Rosie upgraded the rotors...fascinating. You've been to Nidveilir Zeddy..."
Nathan would wave to Z'ress.
"Good to see you, Z'ress. You can lose the radiation shielding. Aisling has improved the dampeners and atmosphere generators and Saoirse has put up conversion crystals to prevent anything from seeping through the floating plasma foundation. You should be fine, my friend."
He would turn to Nissa with a sigh.
"I'm trying to keep it as simple as I can, Niss. We wouldn't actually cease to exist - our reality would merge with whatever changes were adjusted in the past. We wouldn't even know any different. But if the girls get it right, there'll be no more time hopping, and reality can be stable without alterations. Playing with time is just too dangerous. I'm thinking of more than just our family."
He'd slide a rum-chocolate eclair onto a plate, walking over to hand it to Rift. He grinned as he felt Saoirse blink away, blink to Aisling and Z'ress, cramming French Vanilla eclairs unceremoniously into their gobs, poof back to Nissa, biting her own so that a splooch of pudding hit her Aunt in the nose with a giggle, then offer a rum chocolate one up gingerly as a peace offering. Nathan would shake his head.
"What did that old Minotaur Priestess say, in the Book of 2nd Confections, saith the gods, "Thou shalt eat thy desert afore thy meal, lest the End of Times cometh during the meal and thou shalt live in eternity without." Drop the suit and come join us, Zeddy...I've made shaved Prime Rib in various stages...and yes, Saoirse, I've made extra rare for you."
"YEFFFFF!" *squirt* "Offsie...sowwie Aunfie Niffa..."

Rift nodded at Nissa. "Of course! I ALWAYS have de need for a tester!" He grinned at the girls. "Lab work is one thing, but bein' in de field with the new tech is always de best part of science! Ain't it?"
Rift bit into the rum chocolate eclair, eating it quickly. "Did the ol' lizard smell puddin'... er was it de rum? Is dat why he showed up? I swear, anytime de food comes out, he somehow finds de time ta visit." he snickered, realizing he had essentially done the same thing.
...
He listened to Nathan's diatribe about time travel and smirked, saying nothing.

"Greetings, sorry for showing up unannounced. I've been working on something, I wanted to share what I've been up to for the last little while. We were able to achieve singularity in Antarctica back on Terra, it wouldn't have been possible without Lilith's help. We needed an omega level psionicist to contain the expansion of the event horizon until the Dyson Sphere's containment field could absorb enough energy to activate and contain it. Don't worry, there's a failsafe, in the event the sphere reaches criticality, it will drop through a portal to the Void." Z'ress depresurized the suit, the plating in the front would open. He was wearing a tight fitting black outfit, something akin to a sneaking suit. There were a few ports on the chest and on the thigh one would presume connect to the suit for something... Everybody pees right? Another little hiss would come from behind the suit, Goopy clad in his own little tight fitting environmental suit and helmet would climb up the back of the Iron Gator and stand on it's shoulder. He slipped his little helmet off and waved. "Greetings everyone! Its good to see you young ladies, Rift, Nathan and Nissa too! Always a pleasure M'lady." Goopy would do a light bow and then jump onto his father's shoulder as he walked over to the table.
Z'ress still wore Nathan's watch he gave him many years ago, he tapped it and what looked to be some kind of holographic map appeared, it seemed to have nearly 100 different layers full spheres representing different realms they had mapped out within each. Within 5 of the layers there was a blinking red dot at the central sphere that seemed to connect to all others. There was a green dot blinking which could be presumed to be their current location of Solavi. "We needed alot of power to juice up the portal network enough to make it happen, pushed it as far as we dared. I've placed a beacon in 5 different castle realms so far. We had to abort the last one, the Nones had become sentient there and massacred all other life, they also began to conquer all the other realms in that frequency… If they ever achieve singularity and start branching out into other layers of the multiverse we could be in trouble.” He reached in and pulled one layer out with a ‘Facist None Empire’ stamp with it’s frequency on it. ”The beacons are engineered to detect tachyon pulses, if a large object pops into our current timeline, I am hopeful that the tachyon burst will be detected at the nexus point of the Castle realm as the object manifests out of space-time, pointing us at the realm of origin.” He would sigh then, knowing the shortcomings of the plan. ”I’m trying to create a spider web across the multiverse in the range of frequencies that are the most conducive to life as we know it, it’s a broad spectrum, true. But, it seems like once you go beyond certain thresholds things just get really weird… Cronenberg and Facist None weird. And, it’s a net that’s only been cast and functional in the now, which means it could take a thousand years or more to detect it, and her... At the very least that nightmare machine needs to be contained somehow. I couldn’t just do nothing...” He would rub his face, then his nostrils would flare at the smell of the fresh food Nathan had prepared… Cat-Man always cooked the best food… His stomach growled.
"And yes, to answer your question Aisling, your Aunties were extremely helpful getting this suit of armor off the ground. Hopping dimensions is risky business without adequate protection, just never know what you might run in to. Niwyn consulted with me on the construction of the particle accelerator in Antarctica too, that drill she found in Nidveilir was the basis for the drills we used to tunnel around the continent. Was that one of your babies you left behind Rift? Niwyn portaled it right to a scrap yard in Stern and used the money to buy a house there... That was the day we met the Steampunk version of Illyana, code name: "Ornery Steampunk Grandma". Zeddy chuckled remembering those good times.
Goopy looked over to Rift and cocked his head to the side a bit with a big googly eyed smile. "Yes, how is mother doing these days anyway, it's been too long since I've seen her." Zeddy shook his head and face palmed himself. "I can hear her, "How many times have I told ye Goopy! I am nae ye mother!"... Sure, she gave you the gift of life, and I appreciate you have a special bond...." He just sighed, even having grown more mature, Goopy was never going to let that one go. Yana was always going to be Mama.

Nissa would only stare intently at Nathan as he explaned. It was something he had done every time they met because it was something she would ask him every time they met. What could she say, she was a stubborn one and despite the fact her brother in law had hopped around all over creation and had seen so many things in his many years now living, her mind would not allow her to fully trust this plan of his. In her mind, if her half sister didn't take those questionable steps they wouldn't have Rift back. Clearly without Rift the triplets would be there now. But perhaps he was right and there was more at stake than their family. She just hated the fact it was something she'd never truly understand.
She'd shrug, turning her gaze and purposely going cross eyed as Saoirse got her in the nose with the filling of her eclair. She'd chuckle, taking up the offered pastry and biting off the end of it with a show of teeth for the kitten, only to have another glob of pudding splat on her shirt.
"Okay then. Off with ya! You'll ruin your dinner."
She'd laugh, lifting Saoirse off her lap as she stood to her feet, stretched, and finished off the rest of the eclair in just a couple bites.

It was Nathan's turn to be quiet for a bit. He listened to Z'ress, trying to recall what passage in his Grandfather's notes he'd come across that mentioned the foul and insatiable creatures known as a None. He glanced at Rift quietly as he carved the meat, thinking back to the histories and that the man had slaughtered many such creatures back in the day....that or kept a few as a pet. Memory didn't serve. He'd cut a nib off and flick it with his knife towards Saoirse, who would jump at it, catching it hands free in her mouth with a wide grin, chomping on it noisily. She'd burn around the corner to some dark depth out of sight. Aisling would paw little biscuits on Rift's leg in silence, appreciating the generally reserved nature of her great grandfather. Sometimes silence and quiet was preferable to incessant conversation. He'd pull a wet rag out of the sink and clean the knife quietly, musing to Z'ress.
"Don't forget that space time manifests in 4 dimensions. As you place your beacons, don't think linearly or even spherically - you need to position them in such a way that the energy transmissions affect a nebulous balance...otherwise the weirdness will come for you. Have you ever wondered what you and Niwyn's kid would look like? Let's just say I don't have to wonder, and so help me I still have nightmares, if for no other reason that electricity and water don't mix...especially in the same body and mind. Batshit Sado-masochist with a sweet side, that one...eeesh."
He would swing his hand through the air, seemingly aimlessly, but about 2/3's through the swing would contact the little butt of Saoirse who tried to pop in and steal another slice of meat. She would splay across the counter, blowing a frustrated puff of air upwards to clear her bangs from her eyes.
"Still predictable in your unpredictability, sweetheart."

Rift had been lost in thoughts about armor plating. He was thinking of the best sort of material, when he suddenly had a flash of regret about his son. This faded away when Z'ress brought up the massive drill.
"Oh. Y-yeah. De earth mover was originally used ta build de Malfaes facility, er well... make room for it anyway. When I portaled the dissassembed bits ta Prithivi... I mean... Nidveilir, as the dwarves say, it ran inta issues once we hit de Vitrium payloads in de lower caverns. We couldn't move it after it got lodged into de stone of the vein. It was too large to teleport out, and de drill head was damaged beyond repair, so I opted to leave it. Heh. Funny ting...My assistants named de drill "BIG WILHEIM"." Rift laughed.
"Heh heh... Get it? Dwarven humor. Anyways. Dere was a 'LITTLE WILHEIM' as well, but Rose lost dat one in an underground lake, which I'm planning on retrievin' once I get around ta it. I'm jus' glad somebody got good use outta de parts. Ya know I hate it when equipment falls ta ruin."
Rift's fiery red eyes glossed over at the inquiry of Illyana's well-being.
"She's vivacious and happy, an' overjoyed about bein' a mother again. De kids adore her, and I fell in love wit' her all over again." He grinned, but with a hint of sadness.
"We had a rough patch for a while... I put er' through a lot when I was freed... especially with what I had ta do ta about Tres. She forgave me, once she understood why I had ta put him down."
...
He sat silently for a few moments, as Aisling wiggled around.
...
Rift burst into a fit of laughter, watching Saoirse's antics. He gently placed Aisling down and stood once Nate started prattling off about space-time and the consequential meddling. "Welp. I'm gonna go have a cig."
He grinned at Z'ress. "I know dat all dis babble wit' ol Nate is hypothetical, but let me know if ya decide ta have spawn, lizard. If Demon-Fae exist, anyting can cross breed with de right science."
He scratched his head.
"Well almost anyting." He pondered the number of abominations that were created from were-creatures (NOT HIS DOING). "On second thought... maybe adoption is a possible option?"

Nissa stood from her seated position on the floor after Saoirse had bounded away. She’d scoop away the pudding from off of her top and heat it up to burn it away without a trace in her hand. Other than this, she would just listen.
She had recalled hearing something about what her Grandfather, and also her Grandmother, had done with Tres. Though her Mother was quite vague with the details and honestly, she hadn’t had the gumption to visit and find out exactly what had happened. What she did know was that it caused a fairly large argument between Illyana and Rift. Fighting was not something Lilith could ever recall witnessing them doing. It was one of the last semi-conversations Nissa could recall having with Lilith, considering she rarely verbally spoke any more and had retreated away to some deep corner of the never-never. She’d of course come to help when summoned, like she had with Z’ress. But reaching out just wasn’t something she generally did anymore.
Nissa had turned her gaze simply to the floor as she saw her Grandfather’s eyes mist over and heard the touch of sadness that touched his voice, only to look back up when he laughed jovially and spoke to Z’ress about spawning.
It brought back another memory of a conversation she had with her half-sister before Nathan had reappeared and before she had essentially traded places with Rift.
”Cross-breeding. Not exactly the words Sera had used when she told me about the time your sister Mia Fuu… er… hooked up.. with Uncle Tres.”
She’d glance over in Nathan’s direction, wondering if anyone else had heard about that happening. From what Nissa remembered of them both Mia and Tres were pretty batshit crazy so she supposed it made sense. Sera had been disappointed, irritated, and other polite words she used to express she didn’t quite approve of the pairing. She didn’t know if it was a singular incident or not. But Sera being uncomfortable with it had amused Nissa.

Nathan would look to Nissa with an almost distant smile. His silver-blue eyes swirled with little flecks of violet and white, almost shimmering. It was as if he was trying to recall something distant and forgotten, or perhaps trying to think of something that had come to pass, was happening presently and would come to be. He rarely spoke of it to anyone outside of his daughters, but since he had taken on this 'gift' he had been pulled across not only time but the infinitude of dimensions. He'd seen a universe where he and Nissa had been the ones to fall in love instead of he and Sera. He'd seen a universe where Lilith had killed him instead of teaching him for fear and knowledge of what would come to pass. He'd seen a universe where Balty had entranced his Mother and he had never been created. It was as if he wasn't entirely sure that Mia had hooked up with Tres in this universe in actuality, if Nissa was teasing him or if the two had had children of their own and would be stopping by for Sunday dinner. In any case, the comments barely phased him. He merely ruffled Saorise's hair, put together a plate and moved over to where Aisling had been deposited and handed it to his quiet daughter who accepted it as gingerly as receiving a kitten, then began to nibble at it contentedly without a sound. He watched Rift walk out to have a smoke, almost sadly, as if he had seen the pain of a thousand outcomes of his battle with Tres and felt the man's pain for each one simultaneously. In the time he'd been given, he'd almost come to pity his father, understanding what drove the man to cold, calculating plotting. Having known the breadth and sorrow of an infinite outcomes across an indescribably vast and multitudinous variance in existence, holding on to one's sanity was a challenge. He wondered what life was like for Rift, a separate refraction of his own existence. While Nathan experienced the infinitude of one lifetime, Rift experienced the infinitude of a single, unending lifetime. And beings of power always drew challenge, test and heartache as if they were bait for it. He was glad that he had re-connected with Yana and that they knew the joy of children again. The pain from the planes where he had not been freed or Yana could not forgive him were heartbreaking...as was life without Seraphina. Blinking once, then twice, his vision cleared and his soft, sad smile returned.
"Dig in, Z'ress - I know you're hungry. And tell me, all this talk of children...do you have any interests? What about that young lioness that held your father's spear. I know your tribes were mortal enemies, but I think she kind of liked you! Or were you still sweet on my sister after all these years...even...eh...knowing where she's been?"
He shot a wink towards Nissa playfully, then checked his watch.
"3...2....1....."
An empty voice echoed from outside, challenging Rift.
"Rift McCarrion - you are in violation of the Solavi Accords. Your presence was not authorized by the Ruling Council of Solavi, nor the Great Queen Ahanna, honor to her Majesty, and as such you are to be remanded to the custody of the Grand Solavi Army for summary execution. Additionally, smoking is not prohibited in this nation. Extinguish that immediately."
Nathan's lips split into a cocked smile, shaking his head.
"Gods on high...is that a joke Vespyr? Are you actually trying to crack an honest to goodness joke?"
The voice remained flat and deadpan as it echoed back.
"Indeed. Ahanna continues to attempt social normalization with me. Was it effective? Was humor conveyed? Mr. McCarrion, were you amused?"
"You know, if you keep going like this, Z'ress might fall in love with you!"
"Phstt! Of all the absurd assertions I've appended today. Certainly a werelizard and a draco-elf are not suited for familial bonds or procreation, even if were-lizards are asexual when it comes to offspring creations. Besides, he is, as you say, not my 'type?"

Rift grinned wickedly, as his face lit up from the orange glow of the cig. "Hmph. Dis what passes fer de Solavian law round' here? Dat's de real joke! HAW!" He smirked glancing at Vespyr.
"Hmm... if memory serves right... De Solavi monarchy has been pretty stable since Illearas's departure... Most folks 'round here would agree dat I'd comply with Queen D'Damakos any day... but I'm surprised yer not more formal with addressin' her Majesty. I'm like an uncle ta her, ya know, an' I'm not sure ya want ta be as familiar as such ta be callin' de Queen by her birth given first name. Matter of fact, ya might have just picked de wrong "hombre" ta be enforcin' antique bylaws about nonexistent smokin' areas! I'm basically the queen's uncle, so I'm kinda hot shit round here, and de LAST place I'm goin' is any kind of prison!"
He squinted hard at Vespyr, showing his glowing, fiery eyes, as smoke flared out of his nostrils. His shadow showed a pair of massive horns.
"An' I'm NOT gonna go back ta prison."
Rift spent a few seconds trying to psyche Vespyr out, and then erupted into a fit of laughter. "HAW! Aw, I'm jus' joshin' ya, boy. Now, dat's how ya do it."
As the smoke cleared, Rift opened a small portal and dropped the spent cig. "Hey! How is Ahanna doin' dese days? Dis realm looks so much better den when I was here last."

Nissa had moved over to the food, reaching over to pluck away a slice of meat or two and plop them in her mouth to chew. She'd catch the wink from Nathan and simply arch a brow, glancing back to Z'ress. She truly didn't know him other than the time or two they had crossed paths. That party the first night she recalled both of Nathan's sisters being there.
"Which Sister? Because you have two do you not?" She knew more about Mia only from Sera. The other she had only met once and that was again at the house party in Africa.
Her attention was captured however as Vespyr appeared and began "threatening" her Grandfather. Both brows shot up curiously, assuming the dry witted Brother was not being serious. She'd cross her arms and look between Vespyr, her Grandfather, and Nathan. An almost disappointed look crossing her features for a fraction of a second as the Brother admitted he was attempting to be funny. It had been a long time since she had witnessed Rift wiping the walls with someone, but she supposed it was for the best. If he were to fight it wouldn't be with family.
"Good evening Vespyr. Nice of you to drop in. Tell me, as I'm now curious. If Z'ress is not your 'type', then what pray tell is?" A slow smirk slipped across her lips. The fact that he mentioned it means that he had thought about it and really, the thought about poor unsocialized Vespyr seeking out a relationship amused her.

Vespyr's eyes widened at Rift's words, a bead of sweat slipping down his forehead and cheek. One might think that the Old Man had intimidated him until a smooth, husky voice like aged brandy wafted past them, along with a scent of violet and jasmine.
"And you would do well to know, 'Uncle' Rift, that we do not use the name D'damakos in my House. Such history and memories are....unsavory."
Ankle length hair shimmering like molten silver swayed around a royal purple dress. Eyes void and empty as black holes peered out, as if drawing light into themselves with no reflection. A bronzed hand came up quietly, slowly removing the cigarette from Rift's lips, never breaking his gaze as she placed it in her lips and took a deep drag. Lifting his hands quietly, he slipped the unfiltered end between his fingers, patting his thumb affectionately as she exhaled to the side, away from those burning eyes of his.
"But you're quite right about the whole smoking thing...I think we can flex the old bylaws, hm? Thank you for your kind words about Solavi. There has been much work done to undo the horrors of our past. The Draco-Elven Accords have been signed and the Prismatic Dragons freed. They are surprisingly forgiving about the imprisonment, not holding current generations accountable for the sins of our fathers. We have started to open diplomatic relations with other Elven nations, thanks to Illyana's help. We are no longer isolated in the cosmos...it is a beautiful thing."
She would drift past Rift, reaching down to grab his butt with a closed eyed grin, then move past Z'ress, tracing her fingers along his chest.
"My, my Z'ress, how you've grown. Mmmm."
Ahanna would sit quietly, crossing her legs appropriately and wait quietly for the inevitable 'pop' of Saorise into her lap. Stroking her hair as one might stroke a house cat, Ahanna grinned as the little girl turned circles in her lap.
Vespyr would nod nervously at Rift, moving past him awkwardly. He had been told jokes were supposed to bring smiles and laughter. The initial reaction had made the impact of Rift's counter-joke lost to him, and he simply needed out of the conversation. Almost bumping into Nissa as she stood before him to ask her own quest, he blinked quietly.
"I myself prefer draco-fae of great beauty, red hair and a sarcastic disposition."
He would step around her to help himself to a portion of food, leaving her to wonder if this was another attempt at a joke or a simple, straightforward answer. Chewing away quietly, he half hid behind Nathan. There were simply too many people here, and since Ahanna had mandated he could not simply transport people away to pocket realms and forget them (due largely to lack of food and facilities and his lack of understanding that pulling them out 3 months later was not conducive to the survival of organic organisms) and he couldn't trans-mutate them into cake and lie about it later, he tried to get used to the noise and movement.
Nathan let the question about Mia and Zella go. The conversation had moved past this point, and it was mostly irrelevant. He did wonder how they were doing these days.

Nissa's fiery gaze remained at the door, snapping up as Ahanna walked through the door. From this point Nissa had kept a sarcastic attitude, a normal disposition around Nathan. Sera was already grown by the time Nissa was born. Nathan had always been a part of her life and from a small child she had enjoyed butting heads and pushing his buttons. This continued up through adulthood. He disappeared for over 20 years and came back so much older than even that, but in Nissa's mind, he was still Nathan and shouldn't be treated any differently.
Ahanna walked through the door and her attitude shifted. Her face grew cold and stern, very reminiscent of both of her parents who taught her to respect status. But this wasn't just any royal.. this was Ahanna. A woman Lilith had started to call friend. Not that Nissa had much interaction with the woman, she certainly found it amusing at least that she grabbed her Grandfather's ass.
She'd turn, offering a small bow to the woman as she stepped inside and took a seat. A small smile cracking the hardened face as she greeted her.
"Your Majesty. A honor to see you."
She'd stand straight, looking up as Vespyr approached as he nearly bumped into her. Her eyes narrowed at his answer, her face cracking back to that sarcastic disposition he mentioned. She'd snort. To her it didn't matter if he was being serious or not, Vespyr wasn't someone she could see spending that kind of time with. Not that relationships were her thing. Her family clearly hadn't had good luck in that department so it wasn't something she ever considered for herself.
Vespyr would move past her quickly enough without another word and Nissa wouldn't see a need to respond. She'd look back to Ahanna, crossing her arms and looking to her curiously.
"Queen Ahanna. Have you been visited by my Mother recently?"
She herself hadn't heard from Lilith in perhaps months. But she supposed her question would have to wait, her gaze going back to the door with a deep frown on her face. She could hear and smell her coming before the door was swung open wide.
Mia burst in with a wide grin.
"HEY HEY! BROTHER'S BACK IN THA... ACK!!"
The door would almost hit Rift in the face, stopping short and pulling it back quickly so that only the breeze would touch the giant man. She'd wince, looking up at him with wide surprised eyes. Eyes that held a sense of humor that could make someone paying attention guess that she knew the man was standing there before she swung that door open wide.
The blonde girl's grin would widen and she'd wink to the big demon that her Mother loved to hate so much before slipping into the house. She had read the energies of the house and knew exactly how many people were inside and where they were located before even opening the door.
"Good Gravy, Nate! Had I known you were planning a party I would've brought wine. What did you do? Make a call as soon as you popped in?"
She'd dart through the house, nearly tackling Nate off of his feet. She had heard he was popping into Solavi with a bit more consistency but hadn't yet caught him. Today was going to be her day. Seemed it was everyone else's day to catch him too. She'd almost squeal as she hugged him tight. Nate for her would always be her twin. No matter what, he was the brother she grew up with and got in trouble with. The brother she pulled the parents back together with. They had their ups and downs but she still considered them close and truthfully she had missed him.
"What's going on? Is something happening today? Why are so many people here?"

It was getting crowded. Rift watched Queen Ahanna curiously as she took a drag off his cig. Right. Vespyr. The lighting arrives before the thunder. It was at this time, the portal opened and the cigarette butt was sent into oblivion.
Then she grabbed his ass.
"Uh... I dunno how I feel 'bout dat... unless dere's a new elven custom I'm not savvy on..." He glanced at her with warm eyes. "You were standing behind me when I made dat lil' joke, eh?"
He grinned, because he knew he'd get away with it.
"Ya know, I gotta weakness fer elves and fae... what can I say... maybe some can sneak up on me... maybe I like it and I let em'... Dat's how Illy got ta me... but uh... a Queen? Prolly not de healthiest decision ta flirt for either one of us..." He grinned naturally and gauged her reaction.
Rift scratched his head, as his eyes moved to Vespyr, whom he addressed directly. Ahanna had moved on to mess with Z'ress.
"Plus it's kinda weird. Doncha tink?"
He glanced at Vespyr, who seemed quite uncomfortable, but he smiled. "Aye. Redheads... good choice, my boy. I remember haven' the hots fer a Phoenix once... she was humanoid, mind ya... I'm not talkin' bout' no bird. Anyways, she had dis thing she could do with -----------------, uh... Dammit... dere I go again. I prolly should shut the hell up while I'm ahead."
He turned to leave the balcony, and the door swung open, barely, missing slamming into his face.
"Watch it now!"
He spied Mia. "Aw Hell. I shoulda known one of de hellcat's spawn would show up, eventually. I mean, it's like ol' Nate put up de friggin bat signal... er... solar flares er whatever. Was dere an invitation sent out on dis shindig, or are we being crashed?" He frowned as Mia ignored him and ran into the house to tackle Nate. Rift of course knew that had there been an invite, he'd be crashing as well, but that wasn't the point.
He whispered into his lapel. "Designate Sigma Portal, activate. Standby fer destination." He heard a light tone from a micro-speaker installed in his coat button.
Rift pulled at his ancient bomber jacket, straightening it, as he turned back around to the balcony, grumbling to himself. "I gotta get outta here. Bad tings happen when I'm feelin' talkative." He walked back out on the balcony and lit another cig.

"I believe, Mr. McCarrion, this party is being crashed."Outside on the balcony stood another Platinum blonde. A perfect copy of the other that bound recklessly into the house save for her mismatched, feline slitted eyes of blue and green. Where Mia's energies were pure chaos this one appeared calm. Where Mia smelled mostly elven, like her Solavi Father, this one smelled mostly feline, like her Hellcat Mother. A curious brow would arch as she observed him. So this was the McCarrion? She didn't see what all the fuss was about as he seemed pleasant enough. Of course, Zella hadn't been raised with Sunny and Puma and by the time she came to know her real family the so-called rivalry was pretty much over. The stories told then and now by her Mother were told with humor and mirth about how the two had relentlessly tired to kill each other and failed. She'd smile and offer a polite dip of her head. "I apologize for staring, I do not mean to be rude. But it is interesting to finally put a face to the name. We have not met. I am Zella. Sister of Mia, Morsus, Vespyr, and Nathan. You know. The other spawns of the Hellcat as you so call her."There would be no malice in her tone, only amusement as she'd look back up to the large man. "I do hope you're not intending on leaving because of us."
