"A nucleus..." His index talon would tap upon his chin for a moment before he would clap his hands together collapsing the holographic display over the kitchen table. There were a few quibs about mating and procreation, Z'ress cheeks flushed. Some things never changed, he was just as bashful as ever on that topic. "I already have a son, and he's a handsome hand full." He gave Goopy a fist bump, which was a bit disproportionate with a follow up explosion gesture with sound effect. "And as far as female companions go... I find my lifestyle choices a bit unfair to that kind of commitment. Nathan, I cherish your sisters, I truly do, if any woman had the power to settle me down it would have been one of them." He let out a sigh, and looked down at all the delicious food, he started putting together a plate for he and Goopy to share. "Zella's eyes though, I've never been able to get over them... It's like she could look straight into your heart and just connect with you..."

And then Vespyr would enter the scene with the queen of Solavi. Z'ress, who now had some food hanging out of his mouth snapped to attention at the kitchen table, he slurped the food back and his tongue slipped out from between his lips, a bit cartoonishly long, it slipped around his face cleaning it with a quick slurp. Goopy would similarly stand at attention next to his father's plate on the table. They would proclaim in unison. "Thank you for gracing us with your presence Majesty!"

Z'ress spoke in a whisper then as Mia practically tacled Nathan like a line backer."Speak of the devil..." Goopy's eyes grew wide with excitement. "Mia!"
Z'ress' cheeks flushed red then as Zella followed in right behind Mia. He swallowed hard, still standing at attention trying to maintain composure in the face of extremely good food, and a sudden bombardment of extremely hot women.

Rift studied Zella for a few moments. She was pretty. Downright attractive, but a bit on the scrawny side.
"Hmph." It was the eyes. Those unnerving, feline eyes that watched him so closely. Definitely Puma's daughter.
"Naw. I'm jus' leavin' myself options. If I need ta jet outta here, I can. If I gotta sling somebody into a padded cell or a White Sun... I have dat option too. Nuff' said."
He took another drag from his cig and bristled. "Nice meetin' ya Zella. Would ya look at de time?"
His mind was filled with countless calculations and calibrations he should have been doing in his garage by now. He opened a portal high above them and flicked his cig butt into the air, and it flew straight in. "I guess I'll stick around for a little while, but I'm gon' need ta wrap it up, so Illy don' get too terribly upset dat I didn't make dinner plans."
"...Yeah... an' I gotta pick up de kids too."
Rift walked back inside, and realized Zella had followed him, but then saw Mia tackle Nathan so hard his shoe flew into the air.
"GAH HAAAAA HAHHHA! Hellfire, I'm glad I didn't miss dat!"

Zella's eyebrow would raise as Rift mentioned throwing someone into a padded cell or into a white sun. She didn't doubt he had that capability but she hoped he'd refrain. She knew her sister could be a handful but Mia would just teleport back and be pissed off. Then where would they be.
Rift would grow uncomfortable and obviously excuse himself, to which Zella would just chuckle and make her way inside behind him. She wouldn't linger around Rift, picking up on the fact the large man didn't seem to appreciate her presence. Instead she'd circle the edges of the gathering, moving closer to where Vespyr, Mia, and Nathan were. She'd pause to look to Ahanna, thinking that calling her cousin, even if she were a second cousin to her, would be inappropriate.
"Queen Ahanna. It is good to see you again. Vespyr, always a pleasure."
She'd smile to them both, but remain where she stood out of politeness. Over the years and as she grew more comfortable with her family one trait did come out... she could be a hugger. She enjoyed the contact. Vespyr did not seem to care for it and so she'd respect those boundaries. Nathan... well he was being assaulted at the moment.
"Z'ress. It is good to see you again as well. Goopy too. Cannot forget your little one."
She'd smile and give him a nod but still stay at the edge of the room. She was sure the nieces would make their way over to her, or maybe they wouldn't. There were a lot of people to visit with and she'd not hog their time.

Ahanna would sit demurely, watching everyone in regal composure - yet a wry, darkly playful and mischievous grin akin to her cousin's resting almost too comfortably on her lips. Nodding in acknowledgement to Z'ress, she was immediately distracted by Nissa. Her eyes brightened a bit at the thought of Lilith, one of few who cared to regard her as Queen and simply saw her for the elf she was. Her tone was wistful as she responded slowly.
"Childe, dear Lilith has stopped in on occasion for tea, though it has been a month at least since she was able to free herself up for a visit. I most certainly miss her company, though to be in the presence of her daughter gives me no small amount of pleasure. It is a blessing to see so fine and strong a woman as you've become, no sheep to expectations nor bridled to ridiculous social norms. Were it not such a waste of so free a spirit, one might think you a prime choice for a Solavi Ambassador to the Dragonkin of our fine sun."
Ahanna's posture would be still and refined as marble, even as Mia burst in, though her eyes would watch the interaction between her and her brother with dispassion. Turning to Zella as she entered, in turn, with Rift, she would nod with a kind smile to the young woman with dignified pleasure seeping through her stoic mask. She had a soft spot for Zella, given her ideals of justice resonated closely with her own.
Aisling would turn, walking past Mia and moving immediately to Zella, arms outstreched upwards and wanting to be picked up and held by the Aunt who favored such close contact.
Nathan would be driven off his feet, his weak leg crumpling under the hit from Mia, his cane skittering across the floor and his shoe whizzing by Rift's head. As he landed with a heavy thump on the ground, he'd laugh merrily, returning the embrace from his prostrate position on the floor. Pressing a kiss to her cheek, his hands would slowly go palms down on the floor, his head pressing against it as if he were trying to separate from her.
"It's good to see you, sis...but I think someone has missed you even more than I have...."
There would be a gigglesnarl and a POP as Saoirse would appear in full lunge to tackle Mia around the neck off of her father, beaming ferociously at her favorite Aunt.
"Auntie Mia! Auntie Mia! You're here!! Rifty said if I wore my Splodysuit he'd let me blow stuff up later! Wanna come? Wanna come? Do ya? Do ya?"
Nathan would sit up slowly, looking at Z'ress with a wry grin, noting his dear friend's wistfulness. Pointing behind Z'ress at his comment about one of Nathan's sisters capturing his heart, he'd smile wryly.
"Mia's not the settling down type, but if you'd like to try to date Zella, I think she heard you! I won't even get angry if you try to sneak a kiss!"
He'd slide himself sideways slowly, trying to hide the pain in his leg, moving over to his cane and using it to slowly regain his upright position. The tap, tap, tap of said cane could be heard as he moved over to Zella, slipping an arm around her waist and giving her a loving hip bump in greeting. Sliding past, he'd move to Rift gingerly taking his cigarette case out, nabbing one and nodding to the man as he moved outside. A small pocket in the protective field would blink into and out of existence at the tip of the cigarette, causing it to spark to life, and he would sit on one of the ornately carved stone benches outside, taking a drag and leaning his cane down, rubbing his leg gingerly. He didn't like the weakness to be seen, even though it was unmissable. Mia had tried bioempathy to heal it, and he himself had tried nanites and magic, but the temporal persistent injury from the accident was incurable, short of cutting off his own leg and going full cybernetic replacement, and he was still rather fond of his limbs. Calling back through the window, he answered the multitude of questions at once.
"It's a good thing I cook for an army, because I had no idea so many would be showing up today...though it's nice to have us all in one place for a brief moment in time. As for what I'm doing, the girls have nearly completed thier work on the machine and I'm going to hopefully pull my other self out of Cryostasis and return him to his own reality...and, possibly, wind up ending ours. The difference between timespace in the Multiverse is all....wibbly wobbly timey wimey. You know."
Vespyr would watch the goings on with a clearly detracted discomfort, only softening slightly to wave pensively at Zella. She was the one sibling he hadn't shit all over in the past, so he was the least uncomfortable in her presence. He still had trouble looking Mia in the eye even after all this time. Moving to the food he took out a small tea saucer and cut some very small pieces of meat and vegetables onto it, moving over to Goopy quietly and setting it before him, strangely aware that the little lizard would struggle with all the giant implements, not wanting him to be left out of the festivities. Moving to sit in silence beside Ahanna, he would watch the goings on with wide, absorbing eyes even as she would move her hand up to twirl his hair dotingly, one of the few physical contacts he not only permitted, but strangely relished.

Nissa would nod, at least satisfied with that answer. Someone had seen Lilith in perhaps a reasonable amount of time. Maybe she wasn't as lost as Nissa believed her to be. She also found Ahanna's suggestion or offer as Ambassador to be ironic. It was a position Lilith had taken for Krythal and it was in that weird country she couldn't remember the name of she had met Elessar. Her Mother wasn't much of a storyteller but she did remember what she was told when she had asked her parents how they met.
"An Ambassador you say? Your Majesty is flattering but I would assume there would be others more qualified for the honor. Amongst the prismatics the reds aren't exactly known for their... tact." She'd grin wide, the irony not lost that she was being quite tactful at the moment. "I'm not doing much of anything else at the moment so maybe I'll think on it. May not matter anyway."
She'd give a short bend of the waist and excuse herself to the food. She was beginning to feel a little peckish even though she had just had a couple tacos and an éclair. Girl could put away the food and it was a good way to avoid the annoyance that just bounded through the door.
Zella would happily crouch down and pick up little Aisling, nuzzling into the girl's cheek affectionately with a light purr. Zella had learned to adapt and finally, fully accepted the feline nature inherited by her Mother. It of course would not make her her Mother. She would not make the same choices in life.
Mia would snicker, turning her head so that Nathan could press that kiss to her cheek. Had she overdone the tackle? Maybe. But he'd be fine...
"Whaaaaat? Whoever could that be....?" Mia would grin wide and speak in a loud, exaggeratingly slow voice. A sound that would be cut off as soon as the hyper child hit her full force. She expected it, and dramatically rolled on the ground as if the girl were choking the life out of her.
"ACK! ARGH! You got me! I was so surprised!" She'd quickly take hold of Saoirse then, grabbing the girl by the waist and tossing her into the air as high as she could given she was laying flat on her back, waiting to catch her before the girl fell full force on top her.
"Fuck yeah I wanna go blow shit up later! The bigger the boom the better! You know, I've seen and used some of Rift's explosives back when your Dad raided his lab and took some. Nearly made a whole building collapse! BOOM!" Mia completely oblivious to the language she was using.
Zella would peek her gaze out from around Aisling's hair, that one green eye that could be seen narrowing a bit as she looked to Nathan after his comment about Z'ress dating her.
"I am certainly still within earshot you know." She'd chuckle, pulling the tiny girl in for a hug before moving her so that she held her upon her hip. Nate would move towards them and she'd open her free arm to wrap around his shoulders as he slipped past. She would note the pain in his leg and the hitch in his step. It reminded her of a brief moment in LA and she'd wonder curiously at his words before moving over to the food. She'd give Vespyr's arm a squeeze as she walked past with Aisling on her hip before plucking some of the meat for a chew. She'd quietly listen as Nathan explained what was going on. The thought that this reality may end made her a little uneasy, but this was Nathan and she had trusted he had run his calculations and determined this to be the best course of action given the circumstances and his unique perspective.
Mia would just stand up from where she had previously lay upon the floor, looking over to Nathan with a wide grin and a nod.
"Yeah? Cool! You got your younger self all wrapped up like a popsicle? What did you do? Nab him as soon as he popped away all those years ago? Bet he's freezer burnt by now."
She of course knew better and knew how cryostasis worked. But the thought was amusing. She'd ruffle Saoirse's hair.
"Sounds like you girls have been busy. Wanna show me what you've been working on?"

Z'ress relaxed a bit, a smile crossed his lips. It was wonderful having everyone together, even if it was only for a fleeting moment. His cheeks flushed red again though at the thought of sneaking a kiss. Then he would grin and shoot Zella a wink. "I have my doubts anybody could sneak up on Zella. 'cept maybe Niwyn..."
Goopy would chime in then having crawled up onto Z'ress' shoulder. "Niwyn is scary sneaky..." Goopy nodded his head, wide eyed.

Rift had pieced it together. He smiled naturally, showing no sign of his acknowledgement. He had eavesdropped on Nathan.
"The girls are about to put the last pieces together after dinner. If all goes well, I'll return my younger self to the right time. At that point we'll either immediately cease to exist in this reality, or we'll continue on without any known change and his reality and future will be altered in a parallel dimension. Either way, we won't know the difference. All this time I thought Atreyu was time hopping....so much I've learned...."
He had lived long enough to know differently. He had witnessed the rise and fall of multiverses. He knew the reproductions of saving a life meant to be taken. He knew the consequences and risks of defying the fates, what it meant to collapse a timeline.
He also knew better. And here he was, contemplating a contingency plan already.
"...and I'm going to hopefully pull my other self out of Cryostasis and return him to his own reality...and, possibly, wind up ending ours. The difference between timespace in the Multiverse is all....wibbly wobbly timey wimey. You know."
Rift thought to himself as he smiled warmly. Careful, Nate. You never know who might hear you. He cleared his mind. He knew what would have to happen, because that... just wouldn't do.
He didn't care. Nobody was going to take this life away from him. Even if it meant an interdimensional paradox was required. He would make it right.
"Are dere any eclairs left? Heh... I figgured I'd ruin my dinner properly before I headed home!"

There would be a slight pressure under Goopy's chin, an affectionate scratch like one would do to their cat - gentle and appreciative. Light would bend, then fall like a curtain to reveal an tired looking gnome. The pink hair was long gone, having faded to sandy blonde with some silver streaks. A tiredness had filled the eyes once full of thunder and fury, replaced with sadness and the weight of the world. It had been several years since she and Rose had parted ways, and it had affected her deeply. When Sera had become trapped in the pyramid, Niwyn had worked tirelessly for years trying to figure out how to free her. The distance, tiredness and lack of attention had saddened Rose to the point where she couldn't support the relationship any longer, no matter how strong she was nor how much she cared for the gnome. In her failure to achieve her goal, the gnome had become increasingly dark, angry and almost cruel.
After parting ways, Niwyn had returned to Antarctica and lived in relative isolation there, investing herself into taking a more active role in political assassinations for Ema'laeth. The drowess had become a feared matron outside of even the borders of Ched Nassad, and while it was never proven that the large percentage of her rivals and their heirs had met horrible ends connected to her, the silent understanding that the Shadowblade of the Underdark was active and merciless. People feared to even speak against Ema for fear they or someone close to them would wind up missing or worse.
Still, there was a soft smile on the gnome's face as she looked to Z'ress and Goopy, chuckling at Goopy's assessment of her stealth.
"Aye, little one, that I can be...though you may be pleased to know that I'm on your side."
Niwyn did not bother to acknowledge anyone else as she moved past Nathan, her knuckles brushing his pant leg lightly in a gentle touch of greeting. Having lost one of the few things she'd cared about, she knew Nathan's plan and supported it. If there was a chance that this reality could be rewritten, she supported it ferociously. If she, and her endless pain, were erased, all the better. Nathan had told her that today was the day that they were going to make the attempt to use the Machine, and it was of no surprise to the gnome that so many had unwittingly gathered. Moments of cosmic importance always seemed to curiously draw individuals of power or influence to them naturally, as if the timestream itself pulsed with an energy that drew them like moth to flame. And so, too, had she come.

Saoirse would squeal with delight at Mia's request, and with a crackle of static they would vibrate, then both disappear with a pop. Nathan would blink quietly, staring at the space where they were, his senses telling him that they were now in the workshop/laboritory. Saoirse had always had the ability to blink through localized space, but never had she brought anyone with her.
"Well...that's new..."
He looked to Aisling, wondering if she was going to be expanding her abilities as well, but the little girl just clung to Zella and lifted a hand in silence to point towards the lab, as if instructing everyone which direction to head.
Nathan would move to the double oven and pull a second plate of eclairs out. There would be a small blue flash, and where the deserts were existed a box of fully filled, frosted and packaged eclairs. There were enough for Rift, Yana and the kids. Though his back was to everyone, he winced and grit his teeth, his leg throbbing from the use of his speed. He took a slow breath, internalizing the pain, then turned quietly to present the box to Rift. As he set it in Rift's hands, he looked to Aisling and made a nod of his head, and the little one blinked twice. An unpackaged eclair, complete with napkin underneath, floated over to land atop the box. There was a calm knowing in Nathan's smile, allowing Rift one for the road and not have to tell Yana or the kids he'd already had some. Nodding in silent acceptance of Rift's determination to leave, he didn't probe further. For all his intelligence and foresight, Nathan had never been truly able to plumb the depths of this mercurial immortal or his chaotic inconsistency, but rather than persist he had simply come to accept and appreciate him as his Grandfather once had. There was no use trying to persuade or interfere, and he would not take on the arrogance or mis-placed perceived omnipotence of his father and try to go one of many futures to try to predict and counteract potential outcomes. He had chosen his path and only ever worked to achieve his own ends, not manipulate those of others. He was not blind to the fact that his actions affected others, however the loss of his wife had pulled the light from his world and he was determined not to have her eternally imprisoned as Rift had been. The only reason he had not given into despair long ago was his daughters and the constant hope that some version of Seraphina could enjoy them as he had. Perhaps it was selfish. Deep down he knew it. Perhaps that was why it had taken him so long to do the calculations and teach the girls how to create the machine. And yet he felt obligated, even if it meant that some version of himself would take Rift and Seraphina's place in the pyramid. He could at least accept that the girls would know the light and grace that was their mother. He had also hoped that once inside the pyramid he might be able to figure out how to disable it from the inside and find his way home.
Turning, he'd walk down the hallway to follow his more rambunctious daughter.
"Come on, then...I suppose we may as well let the cat out of the bag."
On the table in the workshop was a small silver box inlaid with elementally tuned crystals. It was no bigger than a small shoebox, and while intricate seemed fairly simple. There was a hum of magic within the box, muted and stable. Saoirse was already chattering about how she had made it and how many times she'd messed up to the tune of many elemental explosions - one of which had actually frozen Aisling in ice once accidentally and how she was jealous that her sister got to drink hot chocolate for a week after and she hadn't. As Zella carried Aisling into the room, she moved her hand towards the box. With a deep rumble the whole workshop began to shake and the ceiling cracked open. Pylons came out of the floor, rotating slowly as they rose, reaching some 20 ft. into the sky. There was cranking and grinding as a whole mechastructure beneath the floor hummed. Aisling would smile shyly at Zella, as if to indicate this was her part in the whole affair. Nathan ran his fingertips over the box gently in thought. After a long moment he turned to any who would have joined his daughter and sisters and sighed.
"Simply put, Aisling has created an a stabilizer to control temporal energy. Saoirse created a focus to navigate through timespace so that rather than guess where one pops out, one can pick a one way ticket to a specified point in time. I will provide the energy, Aisling will keep it stable and Saoirse will pinpoint the time when the other me wound up here. After that we put him back in place and let it close."
Something in Nathan's face indicated that this was vastly simplified and perhaps not the whole story. Rather than get into deep detail, he figured he'd let others take it all in and ask questions they might have.

Nissa heard her Grandfather's words and glanced over in his direction. There was a very long period of time where this man was not a part of her life and still many of his ways were a mystery to her. But what she had learned was that his brain was always turning. She had seen his joy at being reunited with her Grandmother. Had watched as he doted on his young children and worked to spoil his Great-Grandchildren absolutely rotten. There was a sense of pride in scientific discoveries, especially as these two girls tinkered and played. But here they were, about to show what they had been working on to the family that arrived and he was about to head home.
She'd snort to herself in amusement. She had stood by and done nothing as Sera rededicated herself to her studies, honing an ability she had fought so hard to simply control for all of her life. Lilith had done nothing. Illyana had done nothing. Grandmother took her at her word she was studying and working on new ways to try and 'break the curse' and bring Grandfather back. Mom was just too hands off and too wrapped up in her own dark thoughts after it was confirmed that Dad was gone. But Nissa saw it. Nissa saw it as more than just implanting a suggestion in the minds of the people on all those worlds to help her look for the pyramid. More like a trigger that activated once the pyramid appeared that forced those people to comply to her every whim. It was no wonder the pyramid took her when it let go of Rift. A trap for over powered immortals. She wondered if Nathan hadn't tumbled down that same path. Once he figured out how to somewhat control his own time jumping she would have thought he'd have made the effort to find Sera before all that happened. Not once did he pop into a location where she was. Paradox bullshit. That's what it was. Over thinking bullshit. She hoped her sister was worth it.
"Hold up Pops. I haven't seen Grandma or the babes in a bit. Give me a second and I'll go with you. Hm?"
Her smile wouldn't falter. Nothing to betray her thoughts. Nathan already knew how she felt about the whole 'ending of this timeline' thing anyway.
Then came Niwyn. She would appear out of nowhere, a typical MO for the little gnome. Nissa and Niwyn had met that day at the Shadowstar beach house. They became friends and out of want for something to do would sometimes accompany Niwyn on missions for her mistress. She'd shoot the gnome a grin and reach out her hand for a 'secret' dorky handshake.
"Hey spark plug."
Mia would pop into the lab with Saoirse with a little squeak and perhaps a bit of static charged hair.
"Ooh! Shocking!
Zella would walk in carrying Aisling as directed, making sure to give Z'ress a squeeze on the arm as she passed. If anything to show she held no offense to what might've been said between himself and her brother.
The building would rumble and the sisters would still stand with their nieces as they showed them what had been accomplished. Nissa would hang back with Rift, even if everyone else walked over to the lab to get a better view of the work the girls had put in. Mia would happily chatter away with Saoirse while Zella would squeeze Aisling tight in quiet praise and acknowledgement. But it would be Zella, who had somewhat mixed feelings about the whole process who would pipe up with a question.
"Brother. I am trusting your calculations on this. But what keeps him... you... from just popping back through time again? How will this differ from all those years ago when you first disappeared?"

He would turn his silver blue eyes to Zella, a somewhat reassured smile creasing his lips. Everything he and the girls had done, even with help from Rift's mechanical knowledge, Vespyr's theoretical research, Ahanna's magical practicums...all of the great machine's science and magic before them was theoretical and untested. But Zella's question, that was one he knew for sure.
"My ring, Zell...the one I got from my father. Just as your Dad's ring creates a null field tuned to his abilities that allow him to repress his more chaotic abilities, so too does my father's ring remain attuned to his, and thus my abilities. My younger self in stasis is wearing my ring, as he did not have his when he came here. It's how I keep him anchored from just popping off, and why I sometimes disappear. The only reason I'm not prone to constant shifts is dear Aisling. I suspect when she'd had enough of Vespyr's babysitting, she came up with the idea of creating temporal dampners. She missed me, so she figured out a way to create a localized field around the house to help repress my abilities. Neither she nor Saoirse have reverse engineered the power of the ring, which is conveniently portable, but my little virtuosos still managed to calm things down a bit. I figure when we wake him up, we can ask him where his ring is and drop him off there. If he can get his on, it'll stop him from blinking away when he doesn't want to. It's also why I've kept my trips to a minimum...in case I get pulled away and can't come back. Only under dire and necessary circumstances do I hop now. Otherwise, here I stay."

Winnie would feel the hand upon hers, moving to recoil away until she pulled herself out of her distant state to realize it was Nissa. Returning the hand shake, she nodded gruffly at her.
"What's shakin', Hot Shot? Didn't expect to see you here. Just got back from the outskirts of Ust Natha. Emmy found a couple priestesses with a pair of Driders planning who knows what. Coulda used you - freaking webs get in your hair and you think they're in your mouth. Blech. Lightning's not as good a fire when it comes to cleaning out a den. How you been?"
She'd look over her shoulder at Z'ress with the tone of a tired sister.
"Yo Z...Meme and her kids were over. I think they ate the last of your popsicles. Might need to get more...I know how you don't like the weird flavor the food fabricator ones make. Still haven't figured out what's wrong with that damn thing...."

Z'ress smiled as Zella passed and gave him a squeeze. If there was anything in life he could have done over, besides finding a way to keep Sera out of prison... It would have been to try and ask Zella on a date, but he let studies, realm hopping and business consume all of his free time and didn't ever have the courage then.
He followed everyone into the lab after waving goodbye to Rift and Nissa. He stood quietly and observed, marveling at the craftsmanship.
