The trip was a long one. He would only stop to sleep, buy enough food to make it through the day and then keep driving. He didn't message or call Amelia as he drove, instead he made it a point to contact his friend 'Gator' and was able to get an apartment and a bar job for when he got there.
When he got into the city limits, he put in a call to Gator. He was given directions to the apartment and a contact to reach to get the keys. Within two hours or so, he in the two bedroom apartment and released a bit of a sigh as he put his leftovers from the trip in the refrigerator, then flopped into the recliner chair in the living room. It had the basics of furniture and a stripped clean bed that had a pillow and some sheets folded and waiting for him. He was grateful for Gator having the place set up with the bare essentials.
"Home sweet home for now,"
He said with a grin. He looked to his phone and sent a text to Amelia.
'Hope all is well. I made it. How are things?'
