Name: Donnalbane De'Asandir
Race: Gangrel/Setite/Fae hybrid
Age: Roughly the same as Lilith
Relations: Former fiance of Lilith, Father to Seraphina, serogate nephew to Illyana.
History:
The demon hunter Donnalbane is best described as a tragedy. He was born from the most unlikely union through the use of his grandmother's sidhe firtility inducing magic to help his father Malcolm De'Asandir and his wife at the time, the Lady Max De'Asandir (Gangrel & Setite vampires respectively) produce a child.
Also, he originates from a universe slightly off kilter with the current storyline, magic is still and always has been a huge part of their culture, also, vampires are far different within that realm. They are regarded almost as dieties and held in high regard because of their willingness to walk hand in hand with the mortal races, share their wisdom, and help their civilization grow with magic and peaceful technology all woven together.
His father, Malcolm, was the king of this realm. A very long story there in itself. Suffice it to say, he was a gangrel through and through, wandering the wilds for months on end, always present in your heart, just not always physicaly there. His mother, was a devout follower of the Seth, and a stranger to this realm that she was crowned queen... The pressure of being royalty so suddenly with a child to bare, was something she was unprepared to handle and ultimately drove her away and into the shadows of her sect to never return to either Malcolm or her son. So Donnalbane led a fairly sheltered palace life until the time he began to reach adulthood, it was a fairly complicated upbringing so many conflicting emotions because of his hybrid nature. The lust for blood was there, but not required, the moment he reached adulthood, his growth simply stopped. He could no longer age. He spent a great deal of time with his grandmother during those years, whom just happened to be a very old, very wise, sidhe. She taught him much of how to think and act the part of a king, which one day he would become to take the place of his wayward gangrel father, and indeed he did.
With his father handing down the crown, Donnalbane vowed to continue his father's work there and turn the realm into a completely free self governing society. But, one night everything changed. His father came to him in secret, and "abducted" him from the palace. It was time for him to be shown the secrets of travel through the multiverse. This was how he came to be upon the plane which our story takes place, and it was stepping into this plane of existance which changed his life forever.
His father introduced him to a slew of people he had no idea even existed. A few faces were familiar yes, as Malcolm often brought the people he cherrished for visits to his kingdom, which seemed in many respects to alot of people from this realm as kind of a vacation resort carved straight out of heaven.
It was here that he would meet the love of his life, one who's own existance was as much an enigma as his own. Lilith and Donnalbane had quite an interesting courtship to say the least. Eventualy, through his promise to his father, he handed his crown down to the people of his kingdom to leave and be with Lilith for the rest of his days. It was perfect, they were even gifted with a beautiful daughter, Seraphina. But, all was not right within Donnalbane.
He was conflicted, torn by the raging forces fighting for control within him... He was not even certain due to the manner in which he came to be that he even had a soul. One night, a haunting vision of his mother's tortured spirit came to him... This troubled him deeply and he saught out his grandmother to teach him how to walk the mists, travel the spirit realm in search of answers to the questions which wracked him to the core. And with that, he vanished for a time...
Unprepared was he for the horrors that he would face and that would be thrust upon him within the shee. He became trapped, unable to return to reality. The torture he endured there would forever scar him to the core. Once he finaly did break free, and could return to his family, he found that he had lost much of his sanity and began rigorously training, day in, day out... Lilith tried with all her might to reach him, but he was too far gone.
Then one night, when it seemed like he would consume everything around him and he saw the strain he put on those he cared about the most due to his condition, he chose to walk away. He chose to fight.
And fight he would... He sought to eradicate completely the forces that drove him into madness, seeking out any form of demonic influence and snuffing it out with the sort of vengeance that only a man who had been truely stripped of everything he held dear could muster. Over time, he began to find himself drifting further and further towards becomming that which he sought to destroy, completely blinded by his vengeance so much that he even took his own sight, bound it with insidious spellwork to keep even his own inate regenerative abilities from restoring it.
However, Illyana one day, long before his decent into madness, gifted him with Fae Sight, something that should have come naturaly due to the Fae energies within his blood, but did not due to the predominant vampuric heritage. She simply coaxed what was already there to the surface, a gesture to help him better cope with her daughter Lilith's ever shifting wayward emotions.
Now, having sensed magic returning to this realm, seeing the changes first hand as he carves a path of vengeance through the crowded streets... he finds himself questioning things he thought lost to him, what the meaning of the sudden shift is.... perhaps it was some sort of demonic influence restoring the earth's magic for some insidious end? As days passed and the flow of magic increased, it became clear that this was more than just an isolated incident and it was clearly a global magical polar shift of some sort and needed his attention.
So, his quest for vengeance set aside for the time being, the demon hunter found himself hunting something long forgotten, his family.
First and foremost, he saught the one which he knew posessed the most knowledge of all things that were Fae, Illyana, his former "mother-in-law". He had no clue where to begin even looking for her, so, that pushed him down to the next best thing, being, her daughter.
Now he stalks the city streets, slipping through the shadows, demonic glyphs traced in his wake, humming with energy not of magical origin... but a more sinister one... in search of the one he used to call his mate.
And find her he did. One night a chance encounter between the two former lovers in a clash of blades and verbal abuse Lilith managed to shake loose the "cobwebs" that had formed within his mind over the centuries during his crusade through the use of a violent and sudden intrusion with psionics. The sinister spellwork that constantly wracked his body with pain also undone, his body and mind began to heal within the gardens of the Goddess Danü Rèalta where he was reunited with his daughter Seraphina.
